A Beginner’s Guide to Hiking Backpacks

A hiking backpack is the first thing you need when planning a hike. Whether you are taking a trail in your backyard or climbing Mount Everest, a good bаckpаck is a must. When you walk into a store, it can be overwhelming. There are so many different types of hiking backpacks that it’s hard to pick just one!

With a little bit of research, you should be able to have a good idea of what you’ll need. Focus on what you looked up and don’t be tempted by any sales pitches.

Backpack Sizes

The size of your hiking backpack should be your first consideration. You should base the size on the type of hike you are going on. If you аre planning on just a day hike, your bag just needs to be large enough to carry a few snacks, some water, and a first aid kit in case of an accident. If the weather is a bit warm and sunny, pack some sunscreen and bug spray.

Weight Matters

All the food and supplies you will be putting into your backpack can add up in weight. With this in mind, you are going to want a lightweight backup so you don’t have to carry any more than you have to. Your back and shoulders take on a lot of stress with a bag bouncing around, so you also want to make sure the bag evenly distributes weight.

Cost

A backpack can vary in cost from as little as $20 to nearly $1000. As a beginner, you don’t want something super expensive but you still want quality. Expect to spend around $100-$200 for your beginner hiking backpack.

Difference Between Male and Female Backpacks

Men аnd women have different body types, so it makes sense they’d need different backpacks. Woman’s packs are usually designed with the following things in mind: Shorter torso range, smaller carrying capacities, more narrow and shorter shoulder straps, and shorter hipbelts.

At the end of the day, however, a woman can comfortably use a man’s pack and vice versa. It all comes down to a matter of preference. If you can afford it, go for a custom pack that is designed specifically for your body
